Meet the Instructors

Lyndsay ERYT 200-RYT200
Founder and owner of Mountain High Yoga

Teaching yoga for over twelve years I have found enjoyment in helping students on their path to yoga in whatever form that takes.  Having found yoga at the age of 14, I understand how it molds differently in every individual whether that transformation be on the mat or off the mat.  I am dedicated to helping people find that spark within them and to follow it.  I am a 200-hour certified yoga teacher through the yoga alliance (http://www.yogaalliance.com/)  and the Kripalu Institute (www.kripalu.org) and have been pursuing my 500-hour certification.  Hope to see you in class!

Abby RYT 500
I teach to spread my love for yoga to others. I love the personal and introspective side of yoga which draws us inward and yet in a classroom setting amidst others we all are akin to our individual practices, our breath-- our unity. Every day I deepen my practice and learn more. I will always remain humble and forever be a student of yoga. I understand it is a personal journey and that no two paths are the same and I strive to honor my students and their journeys with the utmost respect. Prior to teaching yoga, I practiced it for many years.  I am a 200 RYT,  registered and certified ISHTA yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. ISHTA stands for the Integrated Sciences of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda created and founded by Yogiraj, Alan Finger.

Cathy RYT 500
Cathy Clark,  has enjoyed teaching yoga since 2001. Well versed in therapeutics and alignment, Cathy blends several styles of yoga to offer safe, fun and uplifting classes.  She is most influenced by Anusara yoga, a form of Hatha yoga which celebrates the heart and emphasizes Universal Principles of Alignment.   Cathy shares enthusiasm, love, passion and compassion in her teachings and is committed to helping students playfully (re)discover and honor their true essence through a practice that opens and strengthens the body, mind and heart.  Cathy is also an occupational therapist and leads continuing education workshops on the therapeutic applications of yoga.  She is currently completing the second phase of training in Mindfullness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and looks forward to offering MBSR classes in the near future.

Jo RYT 200

Jo began her journey shortly after giving birth to her son, Ryan. Motherhood was wonderful but something was missing. Looking for peace and tranquility, her search led her to a local yoga studio. After her first class, Jo wanted to dive deeper into what yoga had to offer. After many years of research and physical practice, Jo enrolled into a teacher training program. In 2010, she graduated from The Yoga Center of Columbia with her RYT200.  Her training was led by Kathy Donnelly and Cheryl Catrabone, both Anusara Certified Instructors. Jo has a light-hearted approach to her teaching and her classes are fun, uplifting, joyful, and yet challenging to those at any level. Her teachings focus on proper alignment, breath movement, and self-awareness. Honoring ones physical body, releasing all judgment and opening to grace is fundamental in all her classes. Jo’s intention is to share, learn, and love along with her students on this wondrous path of yoga.

Bob RYT 500
Bob McDowell comes from a personal trainer and pilates instructor background and experienced yoga in the Anusara tradition at Inner Harmony yoga center in Utah and at the Satchidananda Hindi Ashram for Integral yoga in Virginia. After completing college courses in Hindu and Ayurvedic health traditions and stress management, he received a 200 hours RYT certification in Integrative Yoga Therapy based on the one to one approach of TKV Desikachar with Diane Finlayson at the Yama studio. He has had the opportunity to receive instruction on yoga and modifications from Gary Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute in California. For fun and inner growth he has taken all types of yoga from Bikram to Kundalini, Iyengar to Astanga and finds both a giving and a receiving of special awareness and blessings at every moment of yoga as yoga is in every moment. Current growth is taking him in the direction of meditation through the Buddhist tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh and classes at Tai Sophia and certification in Tai Chi. He is compassionately committed to connecting to all and enjoys the rays of sunshine that burst forth through the practice of yoga.

Ginny RYT 200
About 20 years ago, I sprained my back shoveling snow and was put out of commission for several weeks with bedrest, drugs to ease the pain, and traction.  I found that it all made me depressed, lethargic, and no better – so I sought out other treatments, one of  which was the joy of yoga.  Over time, I got better and my back got stronger, and I was back to my full-time schedule and also backpacking.  I truly attribute this to yoga.  So, when I retired from teaching science in Howard County 1-1/2 years ago, it was natural for me to become a yoga instructor and spread the word!!  I am trained in therapeutic yoga from Yama Studio in Baltimore and I feel honored to share this with my students.  Namaste!

Kim
I began practicing Pilates eight years ago and fell in love with the results.    I had been a stay at home mom for a number of years after leaving a career as a Registered Nurse.  In 2008, with the encouragement of my Pilates instructors I became certified to teach Mat Pilates classes.   I am a certified Group Exercise Instructor through AFAA and a YogaFit certified instructor working towards my 200 hour RYT certification.  I believe Pilates and yoga compliment each other beautifully, bringing together the mind/body fitness connection to achieve greater strength, flexibility, and balance.   I look forward to meeting each of you.

Liz RYT 200
Liz Clark, CYKT, RYT, is certified through YogaKids International®, Radiant Child Yoga and the Yoga Center of Columbia.  She enjoys teaching yoga to students of all ages, recognizing that we are never too grown up to enjoy a playful approach to yoga.  Liz teaches with the belief that yoga is a metaphor for life and can be used a tool for connecting physical strength, balance and flexibility to inner wisdom and personal power.  Her teaching is a blend of several traditions of Hatha Yoga styles, including Anyusara, Kundalini, and Vinyasa.  Her personal practice is leading her toward Buddhist meditation and a yoga practice that is grounded in physical alignment that opens into freedom, strength and a heart filled with love, compassion, and enthusiasm.
